SENIOR LEADERSHIP CHANGES FOR MARSH IN ASIA

Marsh, the world’s leading insurance broker and risk adviser, has announced that its Asia Pacific CEO David Batchelor will relocate to London to succeed Alex Moczarski as CEO of Marsh’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Alan Cheah, MD for Marsh’s South-East Asia operations (ASEAN) has been appointed CEO Asia, based in Singapore. David Bidmead will remain CEO of Pacific, based in Sydney.
Mr Cheah is responsible for operations in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, India, Philippines, Guam/Micronesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Mr Bidmead continues his leadership of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
Commenting on the appointments, Mr Moczarski said: “I have worked closely with David, Alan and David for a number of years and have every confidence in their combined experience to lead our most dynamic regions in the world.”
Mr Cheah said: “I am very much looking forward to leading one of Marsh’s fastest growing and exciting businesses, and working with David Bidmead in the Pacific to continue to deliver unmatched service, solutions and experience to our clients operating in Asia Pacific.”
Recently, Dan Glaser, CEO of Marsh, Inc., appointed Mr Moczarski as President of Marsh’s International Division, which encompasses the Asia, Pacific and Latin America & Caribbean, as well as EMEA regions. The Heads of all these regions will report to Mr Moczarski.
Mr Moczarski said: “International comprises an exciting, dynamic and diverse geography in which Marsh has the assets to achieve meaningful profitable growth. We will work together with Dan Glaser and his Executive team to ensure we all fulfil our potential.”

David Batchelor began his career in insurance at Bowring in London. During his career, he has worked across the world, including extended appointments in the UK, Bermuda, the US, twice in Hong Kong and in Singapore. Mr Batchelor last worked in London in 2002 as Head of International Retail business with Alexander Forbes, before taking up his present position with Marsh in Hong Kong.
Alan Cheah rejoined Marsh in 2006 as Managing Director for ASEAN from Willis where he worked as Managing Director for Singapore and Regional Director for Malaysia and Thailand. Mr Cheah has held a number of senior leadership positions in Singapore and Asia for Willis, Sedgwick, Marsh and Royal Insurance.
David Bidmead joined Marsh in 1995 and was appointed Head of its Pacific operations in 2005. David’s 25 year experience spans a variety of leadership positions in the areas of account management, business development, alternative risk financing, captive establishment, and financial and professional risks.
